OUR STORY

Pragat Foundation was born from a personal experience of our founder, Aman Angadi. When his grandmother visited from India, she expressed a desire to learn how to manage her own finances. Aman searched for a financial empowerment guide in Kannada, but quickly realized that the resources available were either outdated, incomplete, or extremely limited in scope. By contrast, the materials in English were comprehensive, regularly updated, and widely accessible. Yet his grandmother didn’t understand English.

What should have been simple revealed something much bigger: critical resources were only available in English, leaving her—and billions like her—excluded from life-changing knowledge. Aman realized that language injustice was a form of social injustice, rooted in colonization and still shaping access to education today. This realization sparked Pragat Foundation, with the vision of building a more inclusive world where no one is left behind because of the language they speak.

Over 80% of the world doesn’t speak English, yet most high-quality economic and social education is only published in English. Even with the United Nations’ six official languages, the majority of the world remains excluded. This means billions of people cannot access the resources they need to advocate for their rights, make informed financial decisions, or strengthen their communities.

This linguistic exclusion deepens the global knowledge gap, perpetuates poverty, and hinders international development. Without access to information in their native languages, families, students, and communities are denied the tools to thrive.

At Pragat Foundation, we believe that language justice is social justice. Our youth-led global nonprofit works to break down linguistic barriers by translating economic and social education into multiple languages.

From humble beginnings with a bold vision, Pragat Foundation has grown into a thriving global movement.
By the end of 2025, we are projected to embrace a community of nearly 2,000 volunteers from 108 countries, translating more than 1.3 million words of life-changing education into 97 languages, reaching nearly an estimated 1.5 million people worldwide.

Beyond words, we are building a community bound by the belief that access to knowledge is a right, not a privilege.

Every word we translate is a step toward decolonization, equity, and opportunity for all.
