At Pragat Foundation, we believe language should never be a barrier to opportunity or justice. Over 80% of the world’s population does not speak English, yet the majority of vital economic and social information is only available in this language. This language gap leaves billions locked out of understanding the systems that shape their lives, deepening economic hardship and social exclusion.
Economic barriers caused by language gaps are severe:
Many microfinance programs designed to help low-income communities provide resources only in dominant languages. For rural entrepreneurs and informal workers who speak local dialects, this means missing critical information about loans, interest rates, and repayment terms. Without accessible translation, they risk financial exploitation or exclusion from vital funding. Pragat Foundation translates microfinance guides and financial literacy materials into local languages, empowering communities to make informed economic decisions and build sustainable livelihoods.
Social barriers compound the problem:
Social rights, healthcare access, and welfare programs are often communicated only in official or colonial languages. For example, immigrant and refugee populations frequently face challenges accessing legal aid or social services because information isn’t available in their native tongues. Pragat Foundation produces multilingual educational resources that explain social rights, health guidelines, and civic participation processes, helping marginalized groups engage fully in society and claim their rights.
By breaking down language barriers, Pragat Foundation enables millions to access economic opportunities and social protections previously out of reach. Through our work, we help disrupt the cycle of poverty and exclusion, fostering a more just and inclusive world for all.
